Kasterlee - Kempen Provincie - Belgium

Dx Antwerp travel to Kasterlee every year usually around mid to late November. Even though there can be good dx from this location it is more of a social event where members of the club get together to socialize and to dx.

It is situated in a forest just outside of the town of Kasterlee. Members are able to put out rather long beverage antennas but also many other forms of HF antennas. Several in the club are Mediumwave and Shortwave dxers however a large proportion of guys are into FAX, RTTY, Navtex, HFDL, NDB, DGPS, GMDSS and other modes of utility Dxing.

In 2011 I had my best ever Dxpedition in Europe (For loggings) however in 2012 Kasterlee just like Walsoorden was a complete wipeout for dx across the Trans Atlantic. 2012 has been a very unsettled year.

Some people have speculated that we have already reached the solar peak which is quite remarkable. I'm hoping that from this point in time the lower dx frequencies start to improve.

This was my last Dx trip to Kasterlee. From next year I will be concentrating on dxing at other locations. I want to try and get a lot closer to the coastline.

Kasterlee is a lot of fun but because of this factor you can get a bit distracted on the dx side of things. Walsoorden is certainly a lot quieter.
